Meet Our Team
Muddy Mutts is a family run business
At Muddy Mutts, we pride ourselves on being a family-run team dedicated to offering a safe, enjoyable, and compassionate environment for your dogs. Our staff are meticulously trained to ensure the highest standards of care. Additionally, we have a small team of valued helper dogs who play a crucial role in helping us assess new dogs and puppies. I am genuinely grateful for their support.

Emma Hill Bsc hons - Dog Trainer and Walker
I'm Emma and I started muddy mutt adventures in 2010 after finishing my degree in animal behaviour and welfare. I wanted to provide a knowledgeable service customers could rely on to keep their dogs safe while they had fun. I hold a current level 4 canine first aid certificate.
Before starting the dog walking business i gained experience working at a boarding kennels and canine hydrotherapy. Both extremely valuable from a behaviour and welfare perspective. During my time as a dog walker I've also spent a few years working with another dog trainer, gaining experience in a class setting, working in puppy, advanced, rally , scent and agility classes broadening my knowledge of dog sports. My passion however has always been and continues to be exploring with dogs. The joy from watching them explore the environment never fades.
I Enjoy continued learning with seminars and workshops. in-between dog walks as we travel I love listening to training and rescue podcasts.
I enjoy training with my own dog meadow she is a 6 year old working golden retriever and we enjoy rally training and a little gundog training. In our spare time we enjoy exploring, walking mountains and wild swimming. Meadow is as much an integral part of muddy mutts as myself.
I have owned 2 previous goldens mango and autumn and a lovely driven working labrador nutmeg. all have taught me so much. .Very importantly how each dog is so very individual, how working with the dog infront of you is key to success.
Shelley Hill
My mum Shelley joined me a few years into the journey and has enjoyed working full time with me to provide the best group and solo walks we can. Shelley now works part time , helping me out on busy days, working with some of our older dogs. Shelley also enjoys working with the cats for visits.
We are both canine first aid trained and enjoy learning as much as we can about dogs.
Shelley owns a beautiful weimaraner called betty, she is a rescue dog who was used as a breeding bitch until 4 years old. Betty is super confident despite her bad start in life and enjoys her walks with the muddy mutts.
Shelleys partner Phil often accompanies her on the walks and equally enjoys being involved with the giving extra love and attention to the dogs, who really do become our close friends.

Michael Evans
Michael is my fiancé and adores joining me with the dogs at any opportunity. Currently our weekend adventures are the highlight of his week. Michael intends to go part time at his current driving job as dogs are his passion, his practical handling skills from volunteering are fantastic now. His natural caring loving nature means he's a great fit to join the team.
In 2026 Michael intends to gain his level 4 canine first aid certificate and take a level 4 certificate in professional pet sitting, dog walking, dog day care and home boarding. This will set us up nicely for offering home boarding in 2027. He is dedicated to providing a service with the highest standards of wellbeing for the dogs in our care.
Michael has owned 2 beautiful husky's Cassie and Zeus. Michael has a particular interest and affinity with Northern breeds.

Meadow - working Golden Retriever
Meadow is my six-year-old working Golden Retriever, who plays a crucial role in assessing each new dog prior to their introduction to other canines. She is particularly effective in assisting with young puppies, providing support to both those requiring a boost in confidence and those that necessitate guidance regarding boundaries and appropriate behaviour. Additionally, Meadow excels in working with reactive dogs and exuberant adolescent dogs. Her contributions to the Muddy Mutts are invaluable and greatly enhance our overall approach.
Betty - Weimaraner
Betty is our nine-year-old Weimaraner. While she may prefer to skip the puppy assessments at this stage in her life, she consistently demonstrates a composed and friendly demeanour with newcomers. Betty exhibits a remarkable level of confidence and is more than willing to assist with big dogs or serve as a stabilising presence for our reactive or excitable dogs undergoing training.
Betty had such a difficult start in life being used as a breeding bitch until the age of 4 and kept in a yard, we are unsure how many litters she had. The moment she arrived home she fitted in so well.

Percy - Working Labrador
Percy is a fabulous boy belonging to my very good friend , Stacey. As a valuable member of our dog team, he exhibits exemplary training standards and enjoys a variety of dog sports and gundog activities. Percy's gentle disposition with puppies renders him particularly well-suited for socialisation sessions. His collaboration with Meadow is particularly effective when working with younger dogs together, as they complement each other perfectly.
Additionally, Percy's status as an entire male introduces a unique dynamic to our training sessions, offering opportunities to address potential distractions and assist other young males in navigating their emotional development and resilience.
